If your apartment is cold, a pro tip (maybe most of y'all already know this) is to not poir the hot pasta water down the drain but instead keep it around in a container and let it warm the room as it cools. (Not that it makes a ton of difference… maybe this is one of those penny-wise, pound-foolish plans, but it's just so wasteful to toss away heat you've already paid for. 勿体無い) Be mindful that those containers can become growing ground for disease so don't use the containers for food right away and don't drink that water.

@Sandra how do you get the pasta out?

also: how badly would this work in a country that's basically a rain-forest, like Ireland…

@meena

Do not pour the pasta in there! Only the water.

Use a colander — my pasta pot has a built in sieve in the lid so only the water pours out.

It's too dry here in my apt in the winter so that's not a problem. For those in more humid situations (why are you even making pasta…), maybe there can be enclosed containers that don't let out all the steam?

@Sandra (re: why are you even making pasta…: uhm, what else is there to eat??!??! rice, maybe, i guess? but, like, what else, beside pasta, is there to eat, really?!)

@meena

Potatoes, wheat berries, oat, barley

Wheat berries is my staple. And also I like pasta but not in humid weather 💁🏻‍♀️

@Sandra people around here eat potatoes with everything, often, they eat a side of potatoes with a dish that consists 60% of potatoes…

where i grew up, that was bread.
we'd eat bread, even if the main course was already 80% carb (like, potatoes…)

btw, when I say Humid, i don't mean to imply in any way that it's hot and humid… it's really out right now, and a storm is bashing against the house…

and yeah, that's a lot of water being dropped right now all around

@meena

Carbs are great.

If it's not humid then there's no issue with pasta 🤷🏻‍♀️
