The law should recognize tyrannicide as a form of justifiable homicide.
For example, a queer person whose parents try to force them into conversion therapy should be considered justified in killing their parents. It's plain self-defense.
But since the law doesn't, it's up to fair-minded citizens serving on juries to refuse to convict in cases where the relationship between the accused and their alleged victim is so unequal that the accused may have resorted to violence to survive.
@starbreaker it took me a while to figure out that "judged by a jury of their peers" is some kind of BS that just means white folks get away with anything.
@meena That's too often true, but I still believe that #jurynullification can be used for great justice, and when I AM permitted to serve on juries where it's obvious that the accused is being persecuted for shit I could get away with doing because I'm white, I try to convince the jury to acquit because it's the right thing to do.
I tend not to survive voir dire very often, though.
