if you would like me to be able to read urgent things, please CW it so that not only can i read it, i can also responsibly boost it, and like, KEEP reading it if i have to stop
"i'm not CWing this because it's important to actually read it" translates to "i'm not CWing because any time this pops up anywhere in your life, nomatter how much you've read or done about it elsewhere, you should be forced to read it"
do u really think the people who don't open "urgent, USpol" are willing to act?

@pan How do we figure out what needs a content warning?
I mostly post about politics because that's most of what concerns me.
I can get that things like detention and violence need CWs, but what about news regarding a coal mine proposal or a tax cut for millionaires? I can imagine that potentially for someone exhausted of bad things, they'd like to put their head in the sand, but how can we know if something could actually trigger PTSD etc?

@kitdarko for me it's mainly about just creating an environment where it's okay for people to fuck up as long as they don't double down/dig in heels/get defensive
and also working to create an environment where it's no big deal to just ask "hey could u tag food" or whatever
we just need to try to have a community that can just.. handle that without exploding, so folks with all kinds of triggers/needs can join in
ppl have the power to be understanding of eachother

@kitdarko like there's some sort of rough logic that you can use like, start with general stuff, and it doesn't hurt to stay educated on the kinds of systemic trauma that exist in the world, for starters
but everyone's always gonna be at different levels with that kind of learning yk? so yeah for me it's mostly about preparing our subsection of society here to be able to handle the negotiation / learning process
