i just realized why people are so eager to boost things on masto
it's just… easier:
it takes one click to boost something on masto
on twitter, it takes two clicks to retweet
@hinterwaeldler you can do it here too
and the result will *not* be a pile-up
but lots of subtoots >_> :P
@hinterwaeldler but what you can do is boost a toot and thread your own comments onto it, without mentioning the person
it's magic
@meena Ah, you're right, that's somehow what I'd want.
@hinterwaeldler yah, can't do that on twitter, and it's super annoying
some comments / arguments (not the fighty kind) can stand, or be developed without the original poster.
@meena @hinterwaeldler did not know that! am sure have wanted that a few times.
replying to a thread without mentioning anyone is a very useful feature.
@meena It's also more important to boost stuff here, of course, as that's how it actually spreads between instances...
@ExilianOfficial yes, but imagine if the UX made it two clicks instead of one?
@meena Oh, yeah - Masto is definitely much *better* for boosts for that reason, which is great :) In terms of how effectively one can get things signal-boosted some of that is compensating for the federated structure, though.
@meena Can I add my own comment on twitter? Because that's a feature I somehow miss on Mastodon. 😢
