A woman at today's rally in Chicago mentioned that ICE had been detaining some parents when the parents were trying to get their kids from school.
So the teachers started looking out for ICE, and if they saw ICE at school, a few teachers or administrators would go outside wearing a certain-colored vest / jacket. And the parents knew that, if they saw that color, it meant ICE was there, and they parents would leave. The teachers would then make sure that the kids got home safe.

#Amazon treats its warehouse workers badly, pays very little tax and tracks its users. Its #Kindle platform will delete books that people have already bought.

As a corporation, Microsoft will out-live all of us. Same for Google and Apple. Free software is an inter-generational effort. We don't know what proprietary software companies will do beyond our lifetimes, so we need to do our best to care for free software in our lifetime. Same goes for a lot of other, similar efforts.
It is not a big deal, but it pleased me today to create good default settings via dconf for desktop users. Like, they'll see time zones for our work locations, will see local weather via gnome-weather + the gnome shell notification menu.
At the same time, knowing dconf well is not much of a translatable skill. It's not like there are lots of job postings wanting dconf experience.

I think it's really interesting to follow Dave Winer (inventor of RSS) on Twitter - he's very concerned about the current push towards HTTPS.
He's afraid raising the secrity bar will make the web less open and less accessible. And he's right; adding technical requirements favours the entrenched big players with big budgets.
Dave also fears for the historic web, in the (unlikely?) event that browser vendors actually deprecate HTTP.
I don't agree with everything he says, but the POV has value.
