If anything I'd prefer Microsoft to acquire Github than say...Google.

Microsoft is not a perfect company but it's not the 2000s anymore and I'm a bit annoyed by the usual "Microsoft: Bad™" takes. Especially when other comp like Google/FB are actually doing harmful things in present days 🤷

I'll take "Has a shitty policy over Windows' copyright but largely contributes to open-source" over "has a hip image but builds military AI" thank you.

BUT: of course the whole thing is a bit worrying re: centralization and depending on how Microsoft handles the acquisition, it might kill GitHub because Microsoft isn't notoriously good at keeping acquisitions in a good state.

But the centralization part would be worrying no matter the buyer, mind you.

I personally don't think MS is gonna ruin GitHub, or that suddenly they're going to go all Windows-copyrighty on the software hosted on it.
That'd be an incredibly stupid move given theirs actions in open source in the recent years.
