introduction!
Hi, I'm April, a witchy trans lady activist geek monster
let's chat about witcheing, RPGs, femslash, feels & be sparkle magic friends w shared values
for me, this a place to chill & recover from doing intensive activism things all day irl that I don't talk about because pseudonymity is important to me
mutuals can hug and pet me without asking; I'm a cuddly fangbeast
I want to see art of cute ladies and enbies holding hands, making out, and being badasses
must... not... respond to stories about small children with similar stories about my cats...
My spider baby is doing well. I was worried for a while that she'd have no one to eat. I'd sprinkle a little water on her web so she'd have moisture at least.
But then I maimed a couple of bugs for her and dropped them in her web (which is spreading across the garden of pretty rocks I put out for her!)
I just get such happy maternal feelings when she skitters over to a struggling bug or even a water droplet.
I think she's going to be okay!
@aprrrl I can't find it but there's a surprisingly (to me) moving series of Youtube videos about hand-feeding a spider that had lost all its legs, that goes on for weeks before it regrows them in a subsequent molt.
I wonder if I can feed baby spider some raw meat. I'm worried she won't have anyone to eat.
Maybe I should move her to the porch
Does anyone else have pets who are alarmed by costume things?
My cats *cannot handle it* when I put on bunny ears
my best spider friend molted! she's so big and healthy and lives outside my kitchen window
and baby spider is really enjoying the rock garden I made for her to spin webs on the window sill inside
It amazes me how well dogs can communicate and establish rules on the fly. The other day at work I saw a corgi designate a specific corner as "safe" while playing with a few other dogs and everyone respected that (aside from the puppy who is too young to know better). He would go there, chill for like a minute or two, and then get back up and run when he was ready and nobody would bother him in his corner.
Dogs are so good.
I made a little rock playground for the little spider who moved into my kitchen and each night she makes web strands to more of them! 🕷
@mooncake @aprrrl I really like this article on rolling stone it's from a familiar named outlet which makes libs more likely to take it seriously and it's also a listicle so they'll read it even if lazy https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/policing-is-a-dirty-job-but-nobodys-gotta-do-it-6-ideas-for-a-cop-free-world-20141216
My favorite outside window spider I think sent one of her spider babies inside and it's now happily making a home on the inside of the same window! spider neighbors!
usually I worry about the inside spiders finding enough to eat, but occasionally fruit flies spawn and that seems to be enough for the little cutie
@aprrrl @paranoid this is specific to where I live, but it can be adapted to any locale. https://kciww.org/call-a-friend-not-the-cops/
@aprrrl I like this zine: https://itsgoingdown.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/zineforreading.pdf

If you’re talking to dyed in the wool libs, I like to start with, say, overtime pay for cops and municipal budgeting - also how cities will generate revenue through fees and fines from policing

feel free to copy/paste/repackage the content if the source website is a turn-off for the said "random liberals"
definitely NOT 101, but "Our enemies in blue" is invaluable (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23282099-our-enemies-in-blue)
The author has been writing about cops and policing for a long time, so he might have shorter books or articles on his site: http://www.kristianwilliams.com/
#ACAB call for resources:
What's a good 101 level article to educate random liberals about police abolition and alternatives to policing?
I have googled, but I would really appreciate suggestions for things people find persuasive with people who think "paying police more" is a good solution, for instance
Christianity, racism, uspol Show more
I'm sleepy but my cat is comfy on my lap so I'll shitpost instead evidently
