youtube vids are a pretty good example of the detrimental effects of capitalism on creative works huh
@Vann very well put, unfortunately
remember when every thumbnail didn't have impact fonts implying something scandalous and the youtuber making an exaggerated face?
or when channels didn't even have a person who had to be the big youtube persona for it?
too bad that's just what makes money
@Vann Don't forget: HEADLINE!?!?!?!
@Vann Youtube actually changed their guide to state your video MUST have those elements to be noticed. its not snowclones trying to fit in, its the owners outright stating "do this or we won't push you"
@Vann I can't hunt down the page for it as much like all of youtubes not-main-pages its tossed around a mess of pre & post G+ and such. the reason I brought it up is this was something other content creators were discussing just a few days ago. I didn't believe em but they had legit screen grabs from the "tutorial" YT directs you to when you make a new channel/ meet the criteria for specific uploader perks
@Vann currently there are a load of young "creators" moaning like hell because the BBC and British Education Minister discovered they were advertising essay writing services to teens and Google has (understandably) removed (some of) their content (not even closed down whole channels)
(this is unethical and possibly illegal here, it could result in a teen being expelled from school / losing their University place and/or getting trouble from authorities)
@Vann i am so deeply fascinated by how the thumbnail images all look so same
@Vann don't a lot of people say that early YouTube is a great example of a communal site being that people made stuff just for fun?
@Vann
*looks sadly at a site I once liked, and now only peruse sadly, unable not to think about what has been lost*
yes. :(
